KLR 650 Wheat-Whackers to add more adventure
The Kawasaki KLR650 is a dual-sport motorcycle intended for both on-road and off-road riding. KLR 650 Wheat-Whackers is widely used as an inexpensive adventure/touring bike. The addition of luggage and personalized modifications make it more functional on long trips.
For the wedge installation, 1/2 inch tape is used to show a straight cut line just below the ridge. Cutting a minimum of 1/2" under the ridge, no less! And don't cut all the way through. The cut is separated with the long bolt and the headlight frame is still intact. The angle of the windscreen and forward panel is changed. Everything else is attached just like a stock fairing.
The wedges are cut out of are 16 mm galvanized steel sheets and formed with a hammer and a bean bag to fit the compound curves of the fairing. Flat wedges can also be used. They work just as well. But, sheet metals skills aren’t used much in making flat wedges. The sheets are polished to make them shine! Since the metal used is so thick, sunken bolts can be countered in the wedges and washers and self locking acorn nuts can be used on the back side. KLR 650 Wheat-Whackers give choice to customers to use relays and the map pocket as per their wish.
